The Pacific Coast Cichlid Association is proudly to announce our lifetime member, Mr. Richard Bireley, a master breeder, as our speaker on Saturday, August 11, 2007.
Mr. Bireley is a biologist, who loves and has bred cichlids his entire life. Mr. Bireley is currently President of the Sacramento Aquarium Society (www.sacramentoaquariumsociety.org), a PCCA lifetime member, a past PCCA President, and also a moderator of www.duboisi.com.
Mr. Bireley has been kept and bred African cichlids since 1980, especially Tanganyika cichlids. With his passion of African cichlids, he traveled to Lake Tanganyika in 2002; and he will go back there if he has a chance.
He currently maintains more than 6,000 gallons in his fish room and he also has a special collection of reptiles. His 4,000 gallons tomato vat blew everyone away with its likeness of a true Tanganyika setup. In addition, there are many rare Tanganyika cichlids "silver fishes", some of them will not be found anywhere in the United States.
The topic on Saturday August 11, 2007, "Tanganyika Cichlids," will not disappoint. After 25 years of breeding rare Tanganyika cichlids, Mr. Richard Bireley will talk about the unknown, "Rare Tanganyika Cichlids."
